We work to ensure California's water systems serve people and the environment.
PROGRAMS
Aquifer Recharge
Aquifers are essential to the health of all life around them. We are working to protect and restore coastal aquifers up and down the west coast of the US, starting in San Francisco.
Green Infrastructure
We work with municipalities and residential and commercial property owners to improve stormwater catchment, conveyance and discharge, easing strain on conventional infrastructure and restoring natural hydrological flows.
Restore Lake Merced
We are working to restore Lake Merced’s ecosystem, repair water quality, and significantly expand public access and amenities. We are currently focused on building capacity through a coalition of public and private parters.
MISSION:
Maintain water quality and abundance for the natural environment and for human consumption and enjoyment
Decrease artificial diversions and restore the natural movement of water
Augment water resources to increase the resilience of municipal and agricultural systems in the event of drought-induced shortages, wildfires, earthquakes, and in anticipation of currently unknown effects of climate change
Educate the public about the discipline of applied conservation
CASE STUDY:
Far Out West Community Garden
Westside Water Resources implemented a rainwater catchment, storage, and distribution system that irrigates the Far Out West Community Garden with rainwater harvested from an adjacent building.
